Beres Hammond & Bunny Wailer
The Two Giants of Reggae… Roots Rock Reggae to Revival. Last night London was spoilt for choice with not one but two powerful Royals of Jamaica as Beres Hammond & Bunny Wailer graced the stage of the Brixton 02 Academy. As we nervously & anxiously waited to see & hear who would perform first, the excitement became unbearable. Suddenly the Militant Bunny Wailer steps on the stage and the Crowd went electric! Strong like a Lion but humble like a Lamb can be the only words to explain Mr Wailers amazing aura. Bunny Wailer blew us away with classics such as Blackheart Man, Rasta Man, Dream Land, Cool Running and Rockers. Known for the making of the original Candy Dance along side Marcia Griffith with the No.1 Hit Electric Boogie, Bunny Wailer danced his way into our Heart. Each move told a story and every skank was with passion.
As he Performed the Original Wailer hits such as Simmer Down, Trench Town Rock, No Women No Cry, Slave Driver, Keep on Moving & Hypocrites, it really hit home that Bunny Wailer is the last living Wailer. As he sang you felt the presence of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh which one could only imagined. Before he left the stage Bunny Wailer was presented with a British Reggae Award by the Jamaican High Commissioner. Suddenly our eyes & ears were mystified & enchanted by the voice of an Angel slowly walking on the stage… Beres Hammond! Still mesmerised by Bunny Wailer… We transcended into Revival Time with some sugar & spice. If ever there was a time to see Beres, it has to be now! A true wealth of experience. As he graced the stage the crowd went wild and true Royalty was in the House. Hit after Hit came from every angle from the Mastermind. I Feel Good, Double Trouble, Tempted to Touch, Putting Up Resistance, Sweet Lies, She Loves Me Now & Rock Away. It was a non stop train with Beres Hammond last night. His cheeky smile, honey vocals & energetic dances had us captured! Roots Rock Reggae to Revival… Two Giants of Reggae… Did it work? Yes it did! What a show which can only be dreamt of. Bunny Wailer & Beres Hammond made Heaven come to Earth in London & it was an honour to see it!
