Jimmy Riley Dies of Cancer

Last night the Reggae Legend Jimmy Riley dead after a long battle with Cancer aged 61.

Jimmy Riley was receiving treatment for cancer in New York where he later died.

His Son, the international Reggae artist Tarrus Riley, posted the image, “F… Cancer” on Instagram in response to his father’s death.

Jimmy Riley know for his smooth voice and unique style of singing, made his mark in the UK where he topped the UK Reggae Chart with his version of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing in 1983.

Jimmy Riley was born Martin James Ziggy Norman Riley, 22 May 1954. Originally a member of the Sensations and The Uniques, in later years he pursued his successful solo career.

Jimmy Riley had several hits in the 1970s, including Tell The Youths The Truth, Nyah Bingi, and Clean up the Streets.

His successful continued in the 1980s, working with Sly & Robbie’s Taxi productions.

Jimmy Riley last released his album Contradiction in September 2013, which featured guest appearances from his son Tarrus Riley, Sizzla and Fantan Mojah.

Jimmy Riley and his son Tarrus Riley performed together in London during Tarrus Riley’s Love Situation UK Tour in 2014.

The news of his death has left the Reggae community in mourning.

Jimmy Riley was a true Reggae icon and shall be missed dearly. Reggae Britannia send our condolences to the Riley Family during this time.
